Yoga Monks is a method of movement that works to achieve true integration of the mind, body, and spirit. Through specific sequences initiated from the spine, meditation is brought to movement, relaxation is brought to muscles, and the fascia (connective tissue) is allowed to stretch in ways otherwise inaccessible. Yoga Monks literally allows the body’s connective tissue to be reprogrammed, thus removing blockages throughout the physical body.
Most powerful when done as a daily practice, students who wish to seriously take on the practice of Yoga Monks are given specific sequences, and then over time progressed through the predefined levels within those sequences as the body begins to become available to deeper layers of movement. While the physical body is changing, the mental and emotional bodies inevitably change, and so Yoga Monks truly affects the entire being.
For those wishing to try out Yoga Monks, Emily teachers public drop in classes. These sessions will explore some of the most basic movements so students can get a taste of the tip of the iceberg! For anyone unable to attend a public yoga class, Emily offers private classes. A student can come on their own for a one to one session, or can assemble a small group to for a private class.
Yoga Monks is created by Jonathan Monks, a well known yoga teacher in the UK and taught by only a handful of teachers in the world. Emily’s personal teacher is Mithila Ubayasekara who lives in Sweden, and Emily is the only Yoga Monks teacher currently offering classes in the USA.
